Girls BB: NPHS 64, Lexington 33Tell North Platte what you think

North Platte's offense was clicking on all cylinders Friday as the Lady Dawgs hammered Lexington 64-33 at the Dawg House.

NPHS (11-10) scored the first seven points against the Minutemaids (7-17) with Sally Hengen scoring five of those points on a three-pointer and a mid-range jumper.

Then with a minute left in the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs got rolling when Kylie Wroot scored to make it 18-7.

Ashten Hernandez then followed with a basket to make it 20-7 with 16 seconds left. Lexington then turned the ball over in the backcourt and Madalynn Doughty scored right before the buzzer to give North Platte a 15-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Bulldog coach Mark Woodhead said that after scoring the first seven, his team just didn't let up on the Minutemaids.

"We did have a good start and that's key to getting a bounce in your step and keeping your confidence," said Woodhead.

North Platte then scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to really break it open as Lexington lacked the firepower to come back from such a deficit.

Woodhead was happy with how smoothly NPHS ran its offense. The Lady Dawgs got their points in their sixth straight win by sharing the ball and setting one another up.

"One thing we've stressed is that we don't want to have just one pass per possession," Woodhead said. "We made the extra pass and when you make the extra pass, it breaks a defense down. This was a good team win."
