Tyler Keup

Tyler Keup, 29, of North Platte, pled not guilty Monday to several charges – possession of adderall, two counts of distributing methamphetamine and possession of a deadly weapon by a restricted person.

Keup entered the plea at his arraignment in Lincoln County District Court Monday.

Defense attorney Gary Krajewski of Ogallala filed a motion for discovery of evidence.

Lincoln County Attorney Rebecca Harling had no objection and Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands ordered them to return to court on March 11.

Krajewski also asked for a bond reduction. Krajewski told the court that Keup is trying to get into treatment and a reduced bond would make it possible. Krajewski said Keup would live with his uncle, a former police officer, after he completes treatment.

Harling strongly objected noting Keup’s conviction for manslaughter, his time in the pen as well as other crimes.

Judge Donald Rowlands denied the bond reduction, leaving it at $125,000. He told Keup that when he gets into treatment he can, through his attorney, contact the County Attorney’s Office to discuss bond and maybe something could be worked out.

Keup has been in the county jail for 78 days. He was arrested during a traffic stop Nov. 11

Lopez

Also, Courtney Lopez, 24, of North Platte, pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine.

Lopez was arrested Nov. 11 when she was a passenger in a car driven by Keup that was stopped for a traffic violation.

In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors dropped other charges -- possession of a controlled substance, assault and being a fugitive from justice.

Her $10,000 bond was lowered to a $5,000 own recognizance bond and her sentencing was set for March 25.

Rowlands ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Lopez has served 92 days in the county jail.

Talk Back

Independant, you can shut your fn mouth right along with gabby! If you knew his parents you would know the unconditional love his mom and dad had for him when he went to prison the first time! It was probly one of your kids he came back too that wouldn't leave him alone. True, he could have walked away but chose his friends as most kids do! To say that it is any of his parents fault is ludacris at best! Were they in the car when he was caught with the dope? Were they at the misfortunate accident when the girls life was lost? NO Let's go to every murderer's, rapists, armed robber's, child molester's parents house and arrest them! That makes sense? Tyler chose his fate on his own and his mom still stands by her son! Whatever the outcome she will love him no less! DON'T YOU WISH IT WAS LIKE THAT FOR ALL KID'S IN THIS WORLD?

Independent, I'm just curious...do you know his parents? Dopers & drinkers, they are NOT!! Maybe you "know" more than I, & if that's the case, please enlighten me. Don't bash the parents, this ordeal since Tyler was 16 has not been an easy road. Kids make their own choices at times & it most certainly ALWAYS goes against what the parents wish for their kids.

Wake up parents. Let this be a lesson to you. Put down the dope and the drink and TAKE CARE OF YOUR KIDS! There is a lot of talk about this guy not being a "bad person" or that it's "not his fault". He does have to take accountability for his action, he is an adult in age anyway. But I also say some of the blame is with his parents, who failed him. They can't get back those 15 years they had to form him before he was put in prison but they can at least inform him now that he will have to pay the price for his actions. Proverbs 20:11 - Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.

This makes me soooooo angry. He sits in jail for what?!, because he isn't a snitch like all the real criminals in there so they won't lower his bond. They have no idea who tyler keup is. They only know him for the accident that happened when he was 16. He is not the same person by far but this f###ing town won't let it go, instead they arrest and release denton so he can go and help hold up some girl at gun point and then arrest him again only to find out he snuck pot in his ass and gave it to other inmates. Really! I'm sure denton will snitch and they will let him go scott free.

What an example of someone who is always a criminal. It isn't the crime its the person. You make the choices and this is what continues to happen. They never grow up and they never learn. He isn't a good parent. A parent always lives by actions. Teaching your children to murder at 16, do time, get out and keep doing what you were doing doesn't make changes. Time to remove kids from his care and just throw away the key.
