The Maxwell wrestling team finished in second place on Saturday in the D-3 district championship. But with the second place finish, the Wildcats qualified for the Class D state dual tournament, which will be held on Feb. 23 in Kearney. Maxwell got in as the eighth and last team as a wild card. In districts, the Cats finished second to Amherst, who is seeded No. 1 and is Maxwell's first round matchup at state duals. Five Maxwell wrestlers qualified for the state meet. Dylan Gage was the Wildcats' lone district champion, winning the 195-pound weight class. Drew Riggs, Ethan Lunkwitz and Jaylon Sturdivant all got second place. Taylor McKeeman was fourth.
