I will try to approach this logically first, then allow emotion to blend in. But please tell me, point-by-point, where I am wrong; so I can achieve a deeper understanding. 1. Hetero females prefer males. 2. Hetero males prefer females. 3. Gay men prefer males. 4. Lesbian women prefer females. Am I correct so far? If we assume that everyone claiming to belong to a certain category acts strictly according to their claimed category, why should it be assumed that it is okay for a gay male to be in charge of a group of Boy Scouts? In general, young men aren’t considered by society to be appropriate to baby-sit young girls, and men are not allowed to lead Girl Scout troops. Why do we even consider that some men who will publicly proclaim that they prefer males will not be tempted to act out sexually with a group of young males? Does anyone remember the Aesop’s Fable of ‘The Scorpion and the Frog’. The frog asks the scorpion (paraphrasing), ‘Why did you sting me? We had a deal!’ All the scorpion can offer is that he is a scorpion. "I could not help myself. It is my nature." (Read the fable before you react to my condensed version) |

parapraxis, You are probably right; pedophilia probably has nothing to do with the average gay male. But we should take reasonable measures to protect our youth. Read my next post, then tell me if I am overly cautious or if I am a bigot that hates all homosexual people. I prefer to think I am being cautious, as people tend to be in matters of young people and sexuality. |

Oh, and no one thinks homosexuality is a mental disorder. Well, no one outside of bigots pretending to be empathetic. Over 1000 species of animals have homosexual members, humans are the only ones that harbor hatred over it. Do you believe your god randomly chose so many of his people/creatures to have such an obstacle to overcome at birth? Or are you one of the people that think gay people "choose" to be ostracized, ridiculed, and discriminated against? |

PB, I'm not sure what to say if you think people equate the term mental illness = free pass to molest children. Nothing wrong with reading the bible, but maybe pick up some science books as well. Being attracted to children, i.e. pedophilia, is a mental illness. Acting on that is a heinous prosecutable crime. All of which has NOTHING to do with the average gay American. |

For those who say do not judge, I am sorry maybe you missed part of the Bible. John 7:24 "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." Righteous judgment is judgment based on a righteous standard the Very Words of God as found in the Bible. I also would draw your attention to the fact that God hates both the sin and the sinner. Psalm 7:11 "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day." Pslam 5:5 "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity." In my original post, I was refrencing the fact of the rather "foolish" assertion that pedophiles have a mental disorder, they do not, they are sinners, who need to repent and turn to Christ. Just as all people are sinners who need to repent and turn to Christ. I was outraged to see someone justifying pedophilia and homosexuality as a mental disorder, they are not they are just sinners who choose to live in contrast to the Laws of God.

As a 31 year old female, I can say I am not attracted to 18 year old males, neither is my vagina. You have issues stemming from your own sexual problems, and you shouldn't project them onto a faceless group of people. |

Well Parapraxis, it seems like most of these boys are teenagers. Not exactly pubescent. Look at all the teachers that wind up having relations with students. Teachers of both sexes. Nebraska teachers. Maybe you magically are attracted when they reach the age of 18 but most are not. My penis cannot tell age but my brain does. These guys will go where the boys are. You heard of Jerry Sandusky? I would not want my son out camping with a gay nor would I want my daughter camping with a hetro male. |

"Gay" is a nice term for sodomite. Gay SHOULD mean happy, carefree, delighted but now days it means sodomite. I for one do NOT want Scout Leaders who practice sodomy with other men going on camp outs with young boys, PERIOD! It is out of the question, as far as rights go what about the rights of parents to keep their children away from sodomites? They have that right and the Boy Scouts is trying to keep out openly practicing sodomites from becoming Scout "leaders". I can totally understand why, I wouldn't let me Grandson near one of these sodomites knowingly and NEVER on an overnight camping trip. I don't care whether that sounds popular or not it just wouldn't happen, not on purpose anyway.

There have been "gay scout leaders" since the beginning of scouts. There just haven't been OPENLY gay scout leaders! I can't even believe that we are still so intollerant and judgemental. The comments here sicken me! It's no wonder that gay youth have such a high suicide rate with the hatred and nastiness toward same-sex relationships evidenced here! Who are you to judge others? Truly, Christians are to love and embrace those in need of salvation, so if you honestly beleive that homosexuals are sinners....you should be the first in line show compassion, and the love of Christ to them. BTW God calls many other things sin also like all sex outside the bounds of a one man one woman marriage. Let us not justify sin as a mental diorder. (of either sex) A gay male would have as much "temptation" around a group of young boys as much as I, a heterosexual female, would have around a group of young boys. Boy Scouts are privately funded, no tax money goes to support this group, if they decide to not allow homosexuals, then that is their right. If homosexuals want to be part of an organization like the Boy Scouts, they have every right to start their own group which allows whatever they wish. |
