The Sutherland girls basketball team put on an offensive show Tuesday, overwhelming Maxwell, 75-27. Sutherland (15-5) roared to a commanding 45-9 lead at halftime. "I don't think we missed many shots in the first half, except a handful of bunnies," Sutherland Coach Jason Gunderson said. "And we emphasized defense." Sutherland had five three-pointers in the first half and eight in the game. Eleven players scored for the Sailors. Sam Staggs scored 15, Tawnie McConnell 14 and Kaley Stokey and Jaylyn Schuster knocked in 13. Anna Crane had 11 for Maxwell (3-16), which finally got going with 14 points in the third quarter. Next, Sutherland hosts Paxton (9-9) on Thursday.
