Making good on a campaign pledge, Sen. Deb Fischer signed a letter Monday with 22 other Senators asking tough questions of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

And, Fischer is cosponsoring a bill to reduce federal regulations -- The Regulatory Responsibility for Our Economy Act of 2013.

The bill would requires executive agencies to modify, streamline or repeal significant regulatory actions that are duplicative or overly burdensome, she said.

In regard to the letter, Fischer said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have proposed revisions to the way economic impacts are analyzed before wildlife habitat is designated as critical.

The two-page detailed letter is intended to more clearly layout the economic impacts on private and state lands and show the true cost associated with critical habitat designations, she said.

“For too many years, the federal government has expanded its reach into the lives of ordinary citizens and businesses," Fischer said. "Overregulation destroys the entrepreneurial spirit and stifles economic growth.”

“The rulemaking process here in Washington is in desperate need of greater transparency, clearer focus on cost-benefit analyses, and some Nebraska common sense,” she said.

Is it really the federal government's responsibility to stop domestic abuse? Isn't that the states' responsibility? We are 16 trillion in debt and climbing, I think we need to allow states to pass and enforce their own criminal laws without federal interference.

TELL SENATOR FISCHER TO HELP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS. _ Senator Deb Fischer is the only female senator who is NOT cosponsoring the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which helps victims of domestic violence to safely leave their abusers. Senator Fischer needs to get off the sidelines and take a stand for victims. _ Victims of domestic violence have been without help for over a year since the last VAWA expired in 2011 and all because of Congress's political games. Since VAWA was first passed in 1994, domestic violence incidents have dropped by 60%, but the rates are still dangerously high. _ 1 IN 4 WOMEN HAS EXPERIENCED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. _ http://org.credoaction.com/petitions/tell-senator-fischer-to-help-domestic-violence-victims
