Menghini soars in pre-season pole vaultTell North Platte what you think
 

Allexis Menghini, a senior at North Platte High School, finished second in the pole vault Saturday at a pre-season collegiate track meet at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Competing against 17 women pole vaulters from Fort Hayes, UNK, Doane, Concordia and Hastings, Menghini vaulted 11-feet, 7-inches.

Courtney Fegter, a UNK sophomore, vaulted the same height with fewer misses and took first place.

Both valuters missed at 12-feet, 5-inches.

Menghini is a two-time Class A pole vault champion. Her best vault last season was 12-feet, 1-inch.

It was a busy day for Menghini. On Saturday she also won a high school diving competition against divers from McCook, Kearney and North Platte.
