Molly O’Holleran of North Platte has been selected to the National Association of State Boards of Education Governmental Affairs Committee, an entity responsible for recommended federal education policy. The Governmental Affairs Committee helps state board members understand, influence and plan for federal education policies, according to the announcement. O'Holleran is also an elected member of the Nebraska State Board of Education and a former member of the North Platte Board of Education. As a member of the 18-member national panel, O’Holleran will meet with other state education leaders, national policymakers, federal lawmakers and education reform experts during a yearlong series of meetings. She will share Nebraska's experiences and perspective, analyze federal education initiatives, promote state board of education priorities, and serve as a state education resource to congressional offices and staff, the NASBE said. “Now more than ever, state boards are at the hub of great changes in the education environment, with common core implementation, school safety, teacher preparation and development, and federal legislation and waivers at the center of policymaking efforts and discussion this year,” said NASBE Executive Director Jim Kohlmoos.
