Micah B. Koch, 24, was charged Thursday with homicide after a deadly crash shortly after midnight Monday left a young woman dead and two men injured. Koch was allegedly driving the pickup when it went out of control. Korey E. Huebner died as a result of injuries from the wreck. Koch is charged with motor vehicle homicide as well as driving while intoxicated-serious bodily injury. His bond was set at $100,000. Koch’s blood alcohol level tested more than two times the legal limit, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's office. The 1996 Ford F-250 pickup was going west on Platte Valley Road. It went through a three-way intersection into the dirt bank of the west ditch of Prairie Trace Road. Seatbelts were not in use, the sheriff's report said. Koch, 24, and passenger Jay D. Shotkoski, 28, both of Hershey, were injured. All three victims were initially taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center for injuries. From there, Huebner was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. The sheriff's office was informed around 7 a.m. that Huebner died from her injuries. Accident reconstructionists from the sheriff’s office believe the pickup was exceeding the speed limit before it crashed. The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff said.
