Lujan was one of four Lincoln County men who were sentenced Monday to the state prison in Lincoln County District Court.

Defense attorney Robert Lindemeier said his client is trying to get clean. Lindemeier said Lujan went to a detox center in Detroit even before his arrest, and has been through 11 months of treatment since the arrest.

“Andrew has had a long fight with addiction and has spent a lot of time trying to get clean,” Lindemeier said. “Drugs have cost him his only brother; and his father is willing to do whatever it takes so as not to lose his only remaining son.”

Prosecutor Rebecca Harling asked for time in the pen, citing Lujan’s long record of drug crimes. She noted that the pre-sentence investigator did not recommend probation.

Lujan was one of a group of nine people arrested in a CODE (cooperative drug enforcement) roundup in May 2011. Authorities said they seized cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocone, steroids, marijuana, prescription drugs plus one vehicle and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Lujan was arrested on three counts of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, and again in April 2012, he was charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver.

Lincoln County District Judge Richard Birch sentenced Lujan to 2-5 years in the penitentiary with credit for 37 days in the county jail.

What a family tree. Grandad died in a federal prison from a drug conviction, dad spent some time in a federal facility and federal probation from a drug charge and now this.
