Mail: Postal cutbacks are greedyTell North Platte what you think

A couple of weeks ago we received a letter from the post office asking if we thought the Hershey post office should remain open with shorter hours or be closed and let a private business in Hershey sell stamps to us.

I believe it's called "contracting out."

Senators and Congressmen: Restore the United States post office to its original state. The post office is allowed for in the Constitution of the United

Why end jobs? We need people working.

Lobbyists should not be allowed to buy votes that destroy good things like the post office. Shame on the elected Senators and Congressmen who would pocket money from the lobbyists when they know working peoples' jobs are being destroyed.

Talk Back

In rural Maxwell, we only have Monday, Wednesday, Friday mail. I keep hearing how bad it would be to not have Saturday mail, and I wonder what it would be like to actually get it more than 3 time per week!

Snail mail is old and outdated. It is no longer an efficient nor secure method of delivery for many documents. Electronic documents are here to stay, therefore, we need to adjust accordingly. It is simple supply and demand and the demand has shrank substantially. Now it is time to shrink the business to fit. If that means delivery every other day in some areas, accept it and adjust. If it means fewer hours of operation, then we need to plan for that. We cannot continue spending when we do not generate the revenues to sustain it.
