Girls BB: Sutherland rolls past Creek Valley Tell North Platte what you think

The Sutherland girls basketball team went on a first half scoring spree Thursday on the way to defeating Creek Valley, 74-24.

Sutgherland (13-4) scored 49 points in the first half and held Creek Valley (6-8) to only six points.

"We were able to get nice open looks at the basketball and did a good job of not forcing shots and finding the open person," Sutherland Coach Jason Gunderson said.

Samantha Staggs had 22 points and Jalyne Schuster 16 for Sutherland. Schuster hit three three-pointers.

Ten players scored for Sutherland. The starters played just 16 minutes of the game, Gunderson said.

Team totals. Free throws: Sutherland 6-8, Creek Valley 2-14. Three pointers: Sutherland 8 (Jalyne Schuster 3, Joli Hopping 2, Sam Staggs, Alison Stewart, Tawnie McConnell), Creek Valley 2 (Jill Behrends, Shelby Selby.)
