The annual North Platte Library jigsaw puzzle tournament is from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Evangelical Free Church.

Two-person teams will compete on the elementary school division (age 8–11, grades 3-5) and in the middle school division (age 12–15, grades 6-8), and in the adult division (age 16 and older.)

Adult four-person teams will compete, and there is also an individual adult division.

Competitors pay $50 a person to compete. Bethel Evangelical Free Church is at 2700 W. Philip Ave.

There are still openings in the 2-person and individual adult divisions, as well as the elementary and middle school divisions.

The adult 4-person team division is closed. Contact Cecelia Lawrence 308-535-8036 immediately if you are interested in competing.

All teams within each division will piece together identical puzzles and compete against each other to complete their puzzle in the shortest amount of time.

The goal of the tournament is to have fun competing in one of America’s favorite pastimes while building a future for the Library one piece at a time, Lawrence said.

A traveling trophy is awarded to the winning teams in the school divisions. Last year, Adams Middle school took the trophy away from Madison Middle school, which was the champion for many years. Madison is back this year with many teams in an effort to reclaim the trophy.

Platte Valley Christian Academy won the elementary division last year.

Puzzlers must be registered to compete and spectators are welcome to come watch on Saturday.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the North Platte Public Library Foundation, dedicated to building a better North Platte Public Library.

The annual tournament is the librar's first fundraiser of the year.
