Cole D. Picotte, 21, of North Platte, was charged Sunday with sexual assault of a minor. A little before 1 p.m. Sunday, North Platte Police were called to South Taft on the report of a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing shortly after midnight. Police learned that the girl might have been with Picotte near the 1900 block of W. Fourth, and police found them later that evening. Police information officer Rodney Brown said investigators believe Cole and the girl were in an intimate relationship. Picotte was jailed and his bond was set at $100,000. He is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In court Tuesday, Lincoln County Judge Ken Turnbull assigned a public defender and reaffirmed bond at $100,000. Picotte also had outstanding warrants for failing to appear twice on other charges. Turnbull said those warrants would remain active. The two $5,000 bonds for failure to appear will be concurrent with the felony bond, so if Picotte bonds out on the assault charges he will be subject to arrest on the other warrants and have to pay 10 percent of another $10,000 to be released again. Picotte has previous charges. A year ago he was arrested for two counts of theft related to a Bobcat bucket and dozer blade that turned up at North Platte Metals. In August 2011 he was charged with criminal mischief, according to sheriff's records.
Beauvais In county court Tuesday, Benjamin Beauvais, 21, of North Platte, stood for arraignment in county court for driving while intoxicated, two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and criminal mischief. He asked for a public defender. His bond is $10,000.
