Justin Valentine, 24, of North Platte, was arraigned Tuesday on charges related to a 90-minute standoff with police that started around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Police were called to the 400 block of S. Chestnut on a report of gunfire. Officers were told that Valentine had fired a rifle two times in the direction of another person after he’d had an argument with his domestic partner, police spokesman Rodney Brown said. Police found Valentine inside his house, but he refused to open his door. The house was secured and put under surveillance for about an hour and a half. An officer finally entered the house around 5 a.m. Valentine was arrested without trouble and put in jail, charged with two counts of terroristic threats, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony and one count of assault. In court Tuesday, Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull reaffirmed the bond, which was set at $100,000 when Valentine was arrested. Valentine asked for a public defender.
