The board meets at 7 p.m. at the McKinley Education Center, 301 West F St.

Students from North Platte's two middle schools -- Adams and Madison -- would combine to create the sports teams.

Currently, those three sports are played on in intramurals within the schools, but middle school sports teams compete with other schools in wrestling and track.

North Platte Athletic Director Mike Mroczek has said the new sports teams would not travel more than an hour and 15 minutes each way to games, under current plans.

Mroczek said more competitive sports against other school's teams would help athletes understand the commitment involved, team efforts and relationships, the games would develop more school, parental and community support.

In other business Tuesday, the board is expected to approve the school calendars for the next two years, with school starting Aug. 14 and ending May 15.

And the board will consider how to replace board member Justin Schwartz, who has submitted his resignation.
