On Sunday Feb. 3, the Sandhills Symphony Orchestra will begin rehearsals for the spring concert. New members are welcome.

The spring concert will be held at the Performing Arts Center at the North Platte High School at 3 p.m. on March 17. The theme will be "A Touch O' Green," celebrating Irish music, composers and music inspired in some way by the color geen.

The Sandhills Symphony Orchestra is also looking for new members especially in the string section. People who play an instrument and are interested in joining the symphony should contact conductor Carmen Allen at 308-582-4593 for more information, board member Rob Martinson said.

The Sandhills Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit orchestra that exists to promote symphonic orchestral music in south-central Nebraska.

Musicians are volunteers who give of their time and talents so that others may enjoy great live music. For more than 50 years, the orchestra has presented concerts free-of-charge in central Nebraska, and relied on the donations of generous patrons to make these concerts possible.
