Principal Shane Alexander was placed on paid administrative leave at the end of the school day Monday at Washington Elementary School in North Platte, pending an investigation.

Superintendent Marty Bassett said only that it is a personnel matter and no assumptions are to be made.

Central office administrators Tami Eshleman and Bassett have stepped in for Alexander at Washington until the investigation is complete.

A North Platte Police spokesman said there is no criminal investigation.

Alexander has been the principal at Washington since fall 2011. Before then, he was the principal at Eisenhower Elementary for three years.
