The North Platte Community College Knights Men's Basketball team (12-3, 3-1 Region IX) fell to the Otero Rattlers (14-4, 2-2 Region IX) 75-61 in their second worst defensive outing of the year The Knights were led by Ethan Montalvo with 16 points and Reath Jiech with with 15. The Rattlers were led by Terrell Brown with 19 points. Knights coach Kevin O'Connor said, "We got beat by a team that played harder, was hungrier with their effort which gave them an edge and carried them through." At halftime, the Rattlers held a slim lead, 28-27. The Knights could never get over the hump in the second half, drawing to 55-54 with 4 minutes to play before the Rattlers closed the game from the free throw line. "We made a couple nice runs that gave us a chance, but in the end they were mentally tougher," said O'Connor. The loss snaps a five game winning streak for the Knights and drops them into a tie for second place in the south subregion of Region IX. The Knights return to action Friday as they travel to Lamar, Colo. to take on the Lamar Runnin' Lopes (9-6, 3-0 Region IX) at 8:30 p.m. CST.
