Forty-five boys and girls competed Saturday in the Elks Hoop Shoot contest – a free-throw contest in North Platte

Each student shoot 25 free throws. Both the winners and runner up received a trophy. The winners advance to district competition next week. If they win districts they will advance to state competition in York.

The state winners head to a regional competition in Denver with a shot at the national competition that will be held in Springfield, Mass.

The results:

Girls (age 8-9)

1. Ella Kisslinger of North Platte defeated Megan DuTemple of North Platte in a tie-breaker. Both girls hit a free throw in regular competition.
