Hall, 38, had 21 long guns, including several assault weapons, plus seven pistols and a large flare gun locked in a gun safe in his home at 604 East Second in Hershey, according to a sheriff's statement.

At least one of the assault weapons is believed to be fully automatic, the sheriff said.

Investigators searched Hall's home after they found credible evidence that he had at least one firearm and possibly some other stolen items.

Hall served from August 2006-May 2009 in the state pen for five counts of burglary. He was released on parole. He has been arrested in Lincoln County nine times since 2006 for burglary, as well as shoplifting and possession of a stolen firearm, according to sheriff's records.

This time, the firearms were found in Hall's garage and house. Many were in a large gun safe that was opened with the help of a locksmith.

The investigation continues and additional charges will be forthcoming, the sheriff said. Hall is a suspect in other thefts in North Platte and Lincoln County.

Um...again, it's history and an understanding of history that is key. First, when understood in their historical context, the words are very very clear. But here's a hint: the "militia" was the private citizen. Last I checked...a "nuke" wasn't a firearm, so that should be self-explanatary. It is also a divergent 'argument' used by folks who are either unwilling, or unable to engage in a rational and objective discussion of the issue. Cars you say...well first, automobiles are not a 'right' recognized in any Constitution of the US or the 50. Second, like firearms, the use of automobiles is regulated. Yet, more people are killed via automobiles every year than firearms. So, lets regulate them more shall we. So I pose these questions: What is your interpretation of the Constitution? Please when sharing this, provide the source and reference to your version, and how it is historically accurate. Second, please tell us what additional gun control there is that can be passed that preserves the right of the majority, yet prevents the illegal acts of the minority? I'll answer that one for you...you can't. Gun control will only serve to diminish the rights of the law abiding, at their expense, perhaps making them criminal, for no reason. Yet the criminal minority will remain the criminal minority. Well, more gun control because this control didn't work. And the slide continues. Curious, when you volunteered for the Marines, you swore to uphold and defend the Constitution. You do realize that meant upholding and defending it, even if you didn't agree with the provisions? Or, was your oath selective?

We had these same kinds of guns 20 years ago but yet not these kinds of shootings .So we must ask our selves what has changed? Making a new National gun control law will not change the results it is much more complex than just one thing, we also need to look at the failing justice system( a very good example in this story),also the media has play a very large role in these shootings with their non stop coverage, the amount of Violent TV and Video games we now have( and take note of who plays these games mainly 12 to 30 year old males, who is committing these horrendous acts 12 to 30 year old males you don't see a 50 year old guy doing this, the failure or lack of a family structure we have be came a very soft country and are now seeing the results in more ways than one.and until we correct all these things these acts will continue and probably get worse as my dad would say time to grow some balls America!

I'm not "advocating away" anyone's rights. Least wise not rights clearly not defined in the 2nd amendment. I whole heartedly support the 2nd amendment AS IT IS WRITTEN. Not as things are adlibbed to fit their agenda. Tell me this Yoda, you obviously think everyone should have a nuke then? I've made myself clear a number of times that I support gun CONTROL and am totally against a gun BAN. Cars are clearly unsafe that's why there are restrictions etc for them, just like a million other things. Guns are no different.

Thanks. The typing sucks, and I get a little animated when people are so willing to sacrifice my rights by a perception of their needs, but anywho. I remain mystified that any moderately intelligent person cannot distinguish the difference between "need" and "can", and why they believe that government should regulate based on a perceived notion of need. A stupid position to take, one that does not recognize the very foundation of this country, and a simple concept of freedom. When the government regulates based on need, and uses the lowest common demonator to establish the need, a free society we are not. Yet folks who claim the defended the Constitution, are so willing to no longer defend it because of what they perceive that others need...based solely on their subjective, and clouded view. We are doomed if this is the sentiment of the majority.

First, a very basic and quick examination of history, demonstrates that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment had everything to do with defending the population from a domestic enemy, specificall a tyrannical central government. The 2nd has nothing to do with protecting a house from a criminal, or the ability to hunt, it has everything to do with protecting the citizenry from something potentially far worse. Actually conducting the simple research makes this evident. And no, I am not a member of the NRA. Curious, what are these reasonable laws? Also curious why, the extreme minority, and their actions, are used as the basis to make actions of the vast majortity wrong, illegal, or in need of further restriction? Do you, wiz, not recognize that you are advocating for the criminal element to be used as the base, and guide for the actions of the majority? Tat majority that is not of criminal mind? Is that really how you want the government to decide things? Restrict the rights and liberties of the law abiding majority because of the criminal acts of the minority. And let's face it, the spoken word and religon has been the source of responsibility for more killings of inncocent people over the course of history than anything else. Should they also not be restricted too? Maybe George wll chile in on his thoughts on restrictions of the 1st Amendment, if the government believes that the press is using it for bad purposes? Doubt it. Ansd that is exactly why anyone who values any right should refrain from advocating for the restrictions of other peoples rights. It is not your's to negotiate away on my or anyone elses behalf. While the events of Sandyhook are tragic, I'd much rather live in a world where they are possible than impossible. If the world we lives in makes them impossible, then the minority criminal element has set the standard for society. And that society is no longer a free one. It does not stop with firearms. It includes every right that the government should not, and has no power to infringe. Why people are so willing to give this up, based solely on what they subjectively believe, is the most myopic selfish opinion that I have ever seen. Wiz...what's your religon? I will begin the advocating for it's illegalization, because I disagree with its teachings, and believe they are bad for our society. An incredibly stupid position to take, but one you are taking when it comes to the rights of others...

So Sako, basically what you are saying is that you don't want the government to tell people they can't drinking sugary beverages or force us to use a certain kind of lightbulb. When when it comes to smoking pot are you all for a blanket law that outright bans it? That always bothers me when people say "I don't want the government telling me what I can and cannot do, except in certain circumstances." Go ahead and eat your genetically modified and deep fried in trans fat fast food, I don't care, just let me sit on my couch and smoke a joint in peace!

I don't like the idea of Washington politicians making "blanket" laws that make NO sense in rural Nebraska or defining what an individual can or cannot do. That is how this "free" society created the TSA and we have "assault box cutters, pocket knives, finger nail clippers and files". Then there are the "assault cold medications, big gulp sodas, evil sugar, trans fats and on and on". Why do we want a bunch of "out of touch" elitist sitting in their power hungry offices deciding what is best for us peasants? Have some uncommon sense and hold humans accountable for the decisions they make.

So since meth and child molestation are illegal yet they still happen, do you think we should have no laws that prohibit them? Laws like this and gun laws aren't there to stop the crimes from happening, they are they as a justification to punish people who commit them. A felon having weapons is against the law and he is going to go back to jail for a while because he had them. That seems fair enough to me, the guy is a criminal and he shouldn't be allowed to own guns like the rest of us.

The comment about our society being "free as ever" fails to take into account several things. To avoid being arrested and jailed, those guns would all have to be unloaded, in some states the magazines/clips would need to be stored in the trunk or locked away, and you would likely need a permit to carry one or more of them. To legally operate your car, you need a valid license, insurance, and state registration. You have to stop at stop signs and red lights, drive the speed limit, and have less than .08 BAC. In many states, you need an annual inspection also. Even the interstate exits are determined for you. And the color of your car. And how much you pay for gas. It seems less like freedom than minor forms of control that lead us to think we're free.

Thanks for the reasonable reply dio. To your first question, of courese I don't believe people on the other side don't care about the children but I honestly think they care LESS and are more concerned about "losing their guns". No I'm not an idiot and expect criminals to now somehow obey the laws. I do however know nearly ALL gun crimes are committed with stolen guns that were legally bought. If there are no tactical weapons or of the sort, there would be a whole helluva lot less of them to be had by the criminals period. Of course Adam could reload, however that takes time and people can rush to stop someone that is sitting there reloading. Funny no one has mentioned the attack on the kids in China right about the same time, however this was with a hatcher/knife. He literally ran around for a long time and guess how many kids he killed? None. He attacked many of them, but none of the died did they. As for you imnotkidding I am familiar with the term "magazine" however "clip" was a commonly used term when I volunteered for the Marine Corps. Thank you for making me oh so much more educated now. No where in the 2nd amendment does it say anything about "The 2nd amendment is about being able to defend oneself against all enemies foreign and domestic, and above all to defend oneself against a tyrannical government". "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." is in the oath of enlistment into the armed forces. Not in the 2nd amendment. If that's the best you got I can't wait for your not retort. That is all.

To the people who have no other things going on in their lives. This story isn't about the 2nd amendment. Its about a local repeat offender. He doesn't care about anything let alone folks views on gun rights and issues. The guy who refuses to give up any more rights...I'm here to inform you. Your personal rights haven't been compromised. So save your David Koresh speech for a more proper time. We are as free as ever. I can load my car with guns drive to Barnes and Noble buy a copy of the Koran the bible and the new issue of field and stream featuring Ted Nugent and drive across our great land preaching about it all. As long as I'm not treading on others liberties I am free to roam about....these David Koresh,my guns or my life speeches are so distuberingly off base....the article isn't even about this ...no one is taking or banning your precious guns...take that national guards man out of your sights..you don't need to shoot your fellow countrymen..back To the article at hand...arrested nine times in six years...someones dropping the ball here...Joseph doherty

Some questions for you wizdumb. I’m not trying to bait you or raise straw men. I’m not a member of the NRA and I seldom watch TV news at all, let alone FOX. I’d really like to know. Do you believe that anyone who doesn’t agree with you about gun control doesn’t care about school children? Do you believe that if we would just toughen the gun laws so that they cover the whole nation that criminals would finally obey them? As an example, how many federal laws do you suppose Adam Lanza violated? Do you think that he couldn’t reload or change clips (or detachable magazine boxes) in order to keep killing? What type of firearm is used in most violent crime, a handgun or a long gun?

I will put my feelings in really simple terms. I will give up my "assault weapons" and large capacity magazines just as soon as law enforcement and the military give up theirs. The 2nd amendment is about being able to defend oneself against all enemies foreign and domestic, and above all to defend oneself against a tyrannical government. A magazine ban or "assault weapon" ban will do nothing to stop these mass shootings, period. Look at what Anders Brevik did in Norway and their gun laws are beyond draconian in nature. I will not relinquish any more of my rights to the feds or the state, we have lost enough in the last 12 years.

I don't think anyone here is advocating a gun BAN..however some individuals who can think beyond the NRA and FOX NEWS realize something needs to be done, like assault weapons bans, 30 round clips and the like. No one has said a word that I've noticed about a gun BAN. Others can't distinguish the difference between local gun laws and nationwide gun laws. The weapons were stolen from law abiding gun owners...ya no kidding. Happens all the time. Just because Chicago has big gun laws etc doesn't keep them out. They just get stolen elsewhere from legal owners and sold again across the country. Thus the difference between gun BANS and gun LAWS. I'll say again I fully support the 2nd amendment. I however don't support everyone owning a nuke and hiding under the 2nd amendment to keep them. Here's an old article from way back so the data is older now, but I'm sure nothing has changed but the numbers. http://rush_awards.tripod.com/truthaboutguns.html. Feel free to educate yourself or keep being an NRA minion, your choice.

Is this country really that stoopid(spelled wrong on purpose)!!!!!!! Marijuana, meth, cocaine, heroin, murder, rape, theft, and even child molestation are all illegal. All those and many more crimes are comitted everyday. So what makes you think that if you pass laws that keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, like myself, that all the criminals will give all of their guns to the government also. I don't think so!! The last time I checked the car didn't kill people. The drunk driver did!!! So you tell me how the hell can a gun be responsible for anything? The people that hijacked the planes that took out the world trade buildings did it with box cutters.............Lets outlaw those also!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just fyi there inbred I'm a vet I certainly am not "taking this country down the drain". The fact is it does no good to pass regional laws because there is access to weapons in other areas near by. However with reasonable laws on a nationwide basis ARE effective. I support the second amendment I'll fight for you AGAIN to keep that right, however I don't see how anyone needs a MK-19 mounted on their freaking vehicle driving around town either. There has to be limits and mouth breathers like you are more concerned about having an AK than you are the protection of our nations children that are under attack in schools over and over again. Lay off the Fox News koolaid a bit and think about it.

Hey "Dumb" it is people like you who are taking this once great country down the drain! More Gun laws of any kind "Will not" change the fact that people like Mr. Hall or the ones woest than him will always be able to get and posses guns so wake up there are tons of gun laws now do they stop the bad from happening ? nope! We had these same guns and same kind of people so we need to ask ourselves what has changed? 1st. The media has become one of the worst at this rising problem ( we don't need to all know the details, if they stop this then there is no publicity. Plus have you notice all the incidents that have been stopped have not made the National news? no one died or the bad guy was stopped by a good guy with a gun), 2nd. Social Media, 3rd. Violent video games, ( cannot tell you the number of 12 to 30 year old males I know who will sit for hours and play these games, and if you will take notice what age group is doing most of these bad things not a 50 year old guy!) 4th family discipline(parents are either scared or just don't do it. I believe we have become a soft country in more ways than one and we can only blame ourselves! jmo!

Laugh all you want at gun laws there inbred...but the fact is if laws are passed on a regional basis and not a nation wide basis they do absolutely no good. A nation wide enforcement of reasonable gun laws is in fact effective. Nothing will change until that is accomplished.
