The North Platte St. Pat's girls' basketball team blew Overton away on Friday night for a 63-28 win at the McGahan Activities Center.
The Lady Irish (12-1) scored the first six points of the game and then the lead grew to 17-3 after a Brittany Lawrence putback that followed a three-pointer by Brook Boucher.
It was 23-5 at the end of the first quarter after Mandy O'Malley put in a Boucher miss at the buzzer.
In the second quarter, St. Pat's scored the first 26 points and Overton (5-7) didn't score until a minute before halftime. The score was 49-7 at the half.
"We had a really good start," said Irish coach Nathan Stienike. "Our defensive presses worked and when they packed it inside with the zone, we hit some threes. We did a good job of knocking down open shots in the first half."
After the first two minutes of the second half, the Lady Irish reserves played the rest of the way in finishing off the Eagles.
"It was nice to get them in the scorebook," Stienike said.
