Stephen J. Schaetzle of Colorado Springs was arrested Monday, charged with first degree sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Lincoln County in 2006.

The girl, now a young woman, came forward about three and half months ago, prompting an investigation.

Investigator Michael Dowling of the Nebraska State Patrol said several interviews were conducted leading to the arrest of Schaetzle.

Schaetzle, 27, is a student in Colorado Springs. He is on inactive reserve after serving four years in the U.S. Navy. He was on leave from the Navy when the assault allegedly occured at a North Platte motel, Dowling said.

Schaetzle's bond is set at $100,000. He will be tried in Lincoln County, where the alleged crime occured, Dowling said.
