Pawnee could become independent living hotelTell North Platte what you think

A notice of disciplinary action was issued in late October to revoke the assisted living facility license of Hotel Pawnee, but the order is not final and the hotel remains open.

Residents could continue to live in the building even if the assisted living facility eventually ceases to operate, HHS spokeswoman Marla Augustine said Monday.

A hearing is set for Jan. 30 to consider the license.

If the Hotel Pawnee’s license is revoked, people could choose to continue to live there, Augustine said.

City Administrator Jim Hawks is assessing the financial situation of the hotel, which lost its central heaters on Dec. 19.

The staff has scrambled to install temporary heaters.

If the license is finally revoked, the hotel could continue as an independent living center, which does not require a license, but would have to stop providing health-related services as an assisted living facility, Augustine said.

Augustine said residents and/or their guardians are decision-makers when choosing a place to live that works best for each individual.

Augustine said other assisted living facilities in the North Platte area are available. She said Region II Behavioral Health may be able to assist residents and/or their guardians find alternatives.

Have you ever looked at a "room" for residents at the Pawnee? I wouldn't put a dog in one of them. they're not much bigger than the dog kennels at the pound. the place is disgusting. the poor people who live there have nothing, and they still have nothing living there.
