A traffic stop for speeding on Interstate-80 Thursday in Keith County led to the seizure of 80 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a California man.

Just after 5 p.m., a trooper stopped an eastbound 2013 Ford Sport Utility Vehicle for speeding near the Roscoe Exit on I-80, Nebraska State Patrol spokewoman Deb Collins said.

The trooper received consent to search the vehicle, leading to the seizure of 80 pounds of marijuana from a duffel bag and a car luggage carrier in the passenger/cargo area of the SUV.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Matthew S. Hornsby, 38, of Mariposa, Calif., was lodged in the Keith County Jail on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
