As the New Year began, Melissa Romero told the North Platte Police that her husband Alfonso was missing. Alfonso was not missing, police spokesman Rodney Brown said Thursday. He made the announcement after an unauthorized and mistaken "missing person" alert circulated through the North Platte community on facebook and smart phones. Brown said Melissa Romero called police shortly after midnight Tuesday and said she’d last seen her husband at about 2 a.m. the night before, Dec. 31. Police responded to the 2800 block of West 20th. As they investigated, they received information that Alfonso was still in North Platte, Brown said. Police found Alfonso and he “appeared healthy and under no duress,” Brown said Thursday morning, so Alfonso family was notified that he is no longer considered to be missing.
