A small chance of snow turned into the real McCoy Monday, adding a skiff of fresh powder to the North Platte area in time for the New Year. The snow began in late morning and continued most of the afternoon, but that will be all for awhile, according to the National Weather Service in North Platte. The weather service said skies will clear Tuesday and lows will be in the single digits for a few days, with highs in the 20s and 30s. The snow added just 0.1 inches of precipitation to the area, boosting the monthly total to a meager 0.37 inches. About 10 inches of moisture fell in 2012, about half the normal amount, the weather service said.
