I am working here in North Platte at the Lincoln Highway Diner, a small establishment serving down-home cooking. I just wanted to share my story with you about Sunday. Our employer is a 30-year-old man with a heart of gold. He has given employees Christmas bonuses and is closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas, so we can enjoy family and friends. But the best and most exciting thing that he did for this holiday was on Sunday, when we were instructed to NOT charge for any meal that we served all day. Wow, it was shocking and emotional, handing a meal ticket to a table and saying, "Here, Merry Christmas, your meal is on the house."
