Tammy White, assistant to the county commissioners and Renee White, executive assistant to the mayor and city administrator, announced the closings.

Emergency services will operate, including police, fire and rescue departments, sheriff's deputies and county road crews if the weather turns bad.

Offices will open at regular times on Dec. 26.

The county courthouse opens at 8:30 a.m.

This post has been edited or blacked out.
My point is that he made an executive order and every tea bagger is made about it. If he hadn't have done it then every tea bagger would be complaining that they had to work instead of staying home with their families. If you don't like it and you are a citycounty employee, then go to the office and get to work.

You guys are hilarious. "Obama is responsible for city hall being closed on Christmas Eve!" Seriously, how many of you really planned on going into ML&W to pay your bill at 3:30 on Monday? Even if they were at work, none of them would be working so it doesn't make any difference.

Red and Blue team both jump off a bridge and makes it right. LOL! Why not give every worker the day off with pay? It all goes on the National debt and we are going over the cliff anyway. So much to learn and so little time to party. Party on! I am all for going over the cliff and see how the O tax cuts really work.

The George W. Bush administration allowed a full day off for Christmas Eve in 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2008, when the extra day off provided a four-day weekend. Bush also gave workers a half-day off in 2002, when the date fell on a Wednesday. Never heard any outrage then? lol Both sides do it and as far as I am concerned it's the holidays so who really cares. So they got a extra paid day off. People just like to complain.

What's the big deal? It won't cost you a dime, it's O-P-M (other peoples money) The rest of you debt slaves get to work and pay that tax! LOL!

The Nebraska legislature years ago passed a law that they would also close anytime the Feds get an extra holiday. For those who do not understand this will actually save money, the buildings will all have their air handler equipment set back and the lights and other things will be turned off. It will be cheaper to only re-heat (from the weekend set back) the building once next week and not twice, Monday and Wednesday.

The Library will also be closed on Monday. And no, this doesn't happen every year. Thanksgiving the city gets Thursday through Sunday off. Depending what day Christmas falls whether city offices get to close for Christmas Eve. Most years we don't. This year we were planning on staying open. Obama just changed all that. Merry Christmas everyone, especially all of you at the Bulletin.
