The city office and courthouse will be closed on Christmas Eve, per presidential executive order. Employees will receive an extra paid holiday. Tammy White, assistant to the county commissioners and Renee White, executive assistant to the mayor and city administrator, announced the closings. Emergency services will operate, including police, fire and rescue departments, sheriff's deputies and county road crews if the weather turns bad. Offices will open at regular times on Dec. 26. The county courthouse opens at 8:30 a.m.
