A car slid into a semi-truck loaded with hay Thursday near North Platte, knocking the rear wheels off the truck. Icy roads are blamed for the collision at 10 a.m., six miles west of North Platte.
Patrick Mathers of Butte, Neb. was traveling west with a semi-truck loaded with hay.
Adrian Jochum, 21, of Sutherland was eastbound. As Jochum slowed to turn south into a private driveway, she hit a patch of ice, lost control and slid into the semi-truck, according to sheriff's investigators.
Jochum hit the rear dual tires of the semi and sheared them right off the truck.
The front end of Jochum’s car was heavily damaged, Sgt. Wayne Connell of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jochum complained of neck pain and was taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Connell said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
