The boy's parent contacted police, Police Information Officer Rodney Brown said. The boy reportedly took the pills earlier while he was at Adams Middle School.

Following a preliminary investigation, the officer determined that there was probable cause to arrest a second boy for distribution of metadate, a controlled substance commonly used to treat attention deficit disorder.

Three other juveniles were disciplined at the school, Brown said.

Metadate can have serious side effects, including nervousness, nausea, vomiting, or headache, and in some cases fainting, seizure, symptoms of a heart attack (such as chest/jaw/left arm pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating) or stroke (such as weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, sudden vision changes and confusion,) according to a host of medical authorities.

Even more sad, big red fan. The older I get, the more things stick in my head that should've when I was younger, such as "the sins of the Father will be visited upon the child". Hope the kid learns from this.

"Mother's Little Helper" comes to mind. How can a parent not know that the pills are not lasting as long as they should be? areyoukidding?, who's to say the pills came from the kid's home & not someone else's home? Just hard to tell. At this rate, while the juvenile's name is not able to be printed, it will come a time when it will be. Sad...

Hopefully the parents will also be questioned. This kid did not go to the pharmacy to get these drugs, they had to be at home.

When I went to Adams there was someone (who has had feature stories on the bulletin for theft of things from people's garages) that passed out "samples" of his adderall.
