The Sutherland girls continued to flex their offensive ability Friday, rolling past Hayes Center, 73-32. Hayes Center stayed within striking distance in the first quarter, trailing by eight at the first buzzer, but the Sailors pulled away in the second period and kept going.
Sutherland led 44-20 at halftime and held Hayes Center to only 12 points in the entire second half.
"We didn't do a good job tonight of handling Sutherland's pressure," Hayes Center coach Matt Cox said. "They mixed it up and we didn't respond well."
Jalyene Schuster scored 24 points and Samantha Staggs had 21 for Sutherland (6-1). Sam Kennedy chipped in six.
Colby Cox led Hayes Center (1-5) with 14 points and kerbie Large had 10.
