The female is 19 years old and she said touching and “acts sexual in nature” began when she was as young as 8 or 9 and progressed over the next decade, according to North Platte Police Information Officer Rodney Brown.

Maline, who has been active in community theater, was placed in the Lincoln County Detention Center.

The charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a minimum of 20 years.

Police remind the public that there is no statute of limitations on child sexual assault in Nebraska.

“Often we rely on our school counselors or staff to have conversations with children about inappropriate touching,” Brown said, “but in reality parents or guardians should be encouraging their children to speak about this matter.”

“In this case the crime occurred several years earlier and it was only when the victim matured and grew confident that she was able to disclose to authorities,” he said.

So scrapper you already know that this guy is guilty. You decided this probably from the moment you read the story. There are false allegations and these false allegations are growing, and the motives vary. As far as I know this guy is guilty but if he is not he is going to have a tough time proving his innocence from something ten years old. Scrapper, what would you do today if someone accuses you of abusing them ten years ago? You will be guilty, whether on not it is true, in the eyes of most for the rest of your life.

The number of false accusations are very very low especially in a situation like this, this obviously someone close to him and he took advantage of it. She is an adult now and what could she possibly gain from making a false accusation of him now?? How dare you Clyde of even going there. "It only takes one accusation true or false to ruin your life" I don't think the victims life has been full of roses being abused from the age of eight or nine. What a thoughtless heartless response.

I for one hope he is guilty, and most seem to be, because he will always be guilty in the eyes of most people. I do not know how you would prove your innocence. I mean who are you going to believe? A young lady or a middle aged white guy? I think it is better to stay completely away from any underaged children because it only takes one accusation, true or false, to destroy your life.

According to the City Data website, the number of rapes per 100,000 population in 2010 for various towns in Nebraska:

Ogallala: 91.5
North Platte: 81.9
Grand Island: 64.9
Lincoln: 55.1
Scottsbluff: 53.1
Omaha: 41.8
Kearney: 31.8

I'm really surprised that North Platte doesn't lead the state in rapes per capita! This doesn't count molestation though, so maybe NP is the leader there. Congratulations to all who participated!
