Jenny Salestrom of North Platte is the new executive director of Mid-Plains United Way. Board President Marcus Garstecki said Salestrom brings skills of “enthusiasm, organization, and a strong work ethic” to the position. Salestrom replaces former executive director Ginny Martin, who resigned in September after 12 years at the post. Administrative aide, Sandee Kroon also resigned. A long-time resident of North Platte, Salestrom was most recently employed at KNOP-TV. She is a graduate of Mid-Plains Community College, with an Associate of Arts degree in 2000 and an Associate of Applied Science in Electrical Technology in 2007. Salestrom was a member of the student senate for two years and served as president one year. She was a student ambassador for two years and a member of the court jesters. She also played in the college jazz band. Salestrom is on the board of directors for TeamMates and has two mentees. She is also the social media designer and supervisor at Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church. Salestrom will officially take the reins Dec. 17. Until then, she will continue to work part time in the office, where she started late in the summer. “We are thrilled to have Jenny on board as the new executive director. Our board of directors feels she will be able to build on the foundation that has already been set and take our organization to the next level within the community of North Platte,” Garstecki said.
