The Sutherland Sailors boys basketball team won two games Friday and Saturday, defeating Ogallala and Bridgeport.
Sutherland ran past Ogallala Friday night, 65-46, on the strength of a strong first half. The Sailors shot their way to a big halftime lead, 40-19.
"We played really good," Coach Jason Gunderson said. "We are doing a good job of getting the ball into the post."
Post player Sam Kennedy scored 22 points in the game, and Sutherland also hit from outside, scoring five three pointers.
Jalyene Schuster had 15 points and Samantha Staggs finished with 14 points. Staggs and Joli Hopping both hit two treys and Schuster had one for the Sailors.
Jessica Paloucek scored 10 points for the Indians, and Ogallala went to the free throw line 20 times and converted 12. Sutherland was 6-10 at the line.

On Saturday, Sutherland jumped out to a 11-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and held on to defeat Bridgeport, 48-36.
The teams played evenly in the second half and duked it out in the third quarter, Sutherland Coach Jason Gunderson said.
"We let them get within five points," Gunderson said, "but we got things going and led by 15 in the fourth quarter."
Kennedy scored 18 points for the Sailors and Schuster had 13. Tera Harding and Sidney Faeffler each had 10 points for bridgeport.
Sutherland's agressive defense put Bridgeport at the free-throw line 17 times, where they converted 12. The Sailors hit 2-4 from the line.
