Gov. Dave Heineman has declined to set up a state-run health insurance exchange, where people could shop for and compare insurance policies.

The state Legislature is still considering an expansion of Medicaid coverage, an option for states under Obamacare.

SAKO Not over either, Two simple false supports for housing. 10 year bought down to 1.5-1.6% and 30 mortgage rates under 6%. 30 Mortgage rates support about a 25% false price support. There are lots of BS games going strong, all at the tax payers expense. The debt salves just don't get it. LOL!

I remember a lot of postings by Dragracer back in 2007 and 2008 claiming the housing economy was built on a house of cards and it was in for a huge crash. Should of shorted a bunch of real estate funds back then.

The Truth, I used to post on this kind of subject years ago. Your comment "making your dollar worthless" is the whole goal to take control of the masses. Useful idiots are being deceived again and destroying what was a good country.

pleae refer to my post below, and dragracer, you are absolutely correct and most people just arent smart enough to see what is really going on. my insurace since this new law has had 3 price increase (about 30%) and my plan has decreased 3 steps down in quality at the same time. I canceled, bought catastrophic coverage for a huge discount and now just tell the doctors I have no insurance - it is WAY cheaper to do this each year. And now, since our state will not have a health exchange, Obama-care is assessing a 14% fee/tax on all insurance companies who cover nebraska and the other 16 states who refuse to have an exchange. and I will bet anyone in their right mind can figure where that 14% is going to be added. Our government is excelerating their control over the masses. Making your money worthless, and taking your rights away dailey. Did all you sheep know that right after the election obama signed into law more EPA regs that instantly raised the price of fuel? probobly not as most people pay absolutely no attention to what is gong on. Go play on your i-pad or wii or whatever and when you finally realize its too late - tough luck.

It was a democratic vote, not a republican vote. A democracy is the people make decisions, an election is when the people choose the president. That sounds a lot like a democratic vote to me, or dare I say a "democracy".

Considering America is not a Democracy then you are saying it's broke, I agree. LOL!

I always think its funny when naysayers claim that Obamacare is going to ration healthcare and that the government is going to decide when someone has had enough and force them to die a slow and painful death. But the truth is that the law prevents that, the government is actually stopping insurance companies from doing that exact thing.

If anyone believes that healthcare will improve or become more affordable with the implementation of "Obamacare", they will be in for a huge letdown. It is not possible to require insurance companies to accept any and all risks and at the same time reduce the amount they can charge for services all the while thinking they will lower their premiums. This is just the first step towards complete socialized, government run, single payer system. Quality healthcare is destined to become an oxymoron.

I absolutely agree with Mike that we need regulation. Un common sense, I think we tend to look at Obama care based on how it affects us. I personally work on a dialysis floor where people that constantly choose not to take care of themselves, come to our unit with zero insurance, stay a month or so awaiting placement, leave, and don't have a dime come out of their own pockets only to return to their bad habits. Who pays for it? Those of us with insurance. If I were to stay in the hospital for a month, they would be taking me for all I had to pay the bill is left behind. And to top it off, us health care workers that are taking care of these people are taking pay cuts due to Obama care to accommodate the losses we will be experiencing once it goes into affect. There definitely needs to be changes.

Do you want to know why we need healthcare regulation? Earlier this year I cut a tendon in my finger and had to go to the emergency room. I got the bill and those 5 stitches cost me $1300. My EOB from my insurance came soon after and said Allowed Amount: $700, Amount Applied to Deductible: $250. So I wound up paying the hospital $700 but only $250 of it counted towards any of it. Two days after the ER visit I went to the orthopedic surgeon for the actual tendon repair, $3000 bill. Allowed Amount $1275 (pretty good actually), Applied to Deductible $800. Insurance companies will do anything to prevent you from ever hitting your deductible. Thats why we need this healthcare law.

So, can anyone remind me how it is that the "affordable healthcare bill" makes healthcare more affordable? It has continued to escalate in spite of the bill and most pundits of the industry speculate that it will go up much more once fully implemented.

And Truth, do you wonder why the medical profession charges more when you have insurance? I have a feeling that's part of the problem. If people can charge just whatever the heck they want because it's covered under insurance, maybe that's why affording medical care in this country is astronomical. A pill should cost a flat fee whether you're covered or not. How does a $30 pill become a $3 just because you don't have insurance?

to the previous poster, if you would just tell the doctors office you dont have insurance, that $100+ doctor visit would cost you about $30. Also, since our state is not going to have its own exchange, Obama is levying a 14% charge on all insurance carriers who offer insurance in nebraska. that means my insurance rates will go up 14% plus whatever the yearly increase is. why do you think it is fair that my hard earned money should go to subsidize the insurance for others?

If you think everyone having access to necessary and preventative medical care is a problem, you're a fool. For the last 6 months, when I was sick or in pain I knew I had to suffer because I don't have insurance and the money I make waiting tables doesn't even pay my regular bills, let alone $100+ for doctors office visits. I had medicaid as a kid, but when I turned 19 the state sent me a letter: "There is no healthcare program available for you unless you are pregnant or disabled." People who are against universal healthcare: Do you feel this way because you think people who can't afford care don't "deserve" it?
