The Hershey girls basketball team played tough defense Saturday to defeat Gothenburg, 54-31. Maegan Hiatt led the Panther offense with 18 points, while the defense held Hershey to just 17 points in the first three quarters. The Swede’s offense came alive in the fourth quarter with 14 points but by then the outcome was established. Hershey’s Daynlee Miller chipped in 10 points for the Panthers. Gothenburg’s leading scorer was Regan Geikan with 10 points. “We had a few first-game jitters, but we played pretty consistently, especially on defense until the fourth quarter,” Hershey Coach Jeremy Thomas said.
