Nominations open for best yuletide yards Tell North Platte what you think
 

The holiday season is here and itís time to nominate your favorite yard decorated with Christmas cheer.

Whether itís your own yard, your neighbors or even a yard you happen to drive pastÖsubmit them to Yuletide Yards, hosted by KELN Radio and Keep North Platte Lincoln County Beautiful.

Residents can nominate yards Nov. 23-Dec. 12.

Awards will be given to homeowners with the most festive yards.

One winner will be selected in each of the four city wards and one within 10 miles of North Platte. Judging will be based on curb appeal, balance, theme, and maintenance. Winners from the past four years are not eligible to win.

Nominations can be submitted by e-mailing keepnorthplattebeautiful.org or by calling the KNPLCB office at 534-8100.

Information that needs to be submitted includes the address, brief description of the display and any directions that might assist in locating the property. You do not need the home owners name that youíre nominating. Feel free to nominate your own home.

KELN Radio will donate $50 in each winnerís name to the charity of his or her choice during a special banquet.

Nominated yards will be featured during the North Platte Recreation Centerís Tour of Lights Dec. 17-20. Winners will be announced Dec. 18.

Those interested in going on the tour can call the Rec Center at 535-6772 after Dec. 1 to reserve a bus seat. Admission is a paper product, such as Kleenex, paper towels, or toilet paper, which will be donated to the Rape and Domestic Abuse Program.
