The North Platte Catholic Schools Board of Education met Tuesday, Nov. 20 for their monthly meeting. First on the agenda was the seating of two, newly-elected board members. Dr. Bill Mackley fills one seat on the board representing the St. Patrick’s Parish. Pat Keenan will serve a second term representing Holy Spirit Parish.
Board officers were also elected. All officers will serve a second year in their positions: Jacque Harms is President, Pat Keenan is Vice President, and Toni Slattery is Secretary.
Superintendent Kevin Dodson informed the Board that Athletic Director Mark Skillstad is currently gathering quotes and information to purchase a new school bus to replace the oldest bus in the school fleet. This purchase is made possible with the $35,000 raised at the annual GREEN fundraising event.
The Board also discussed dates for an upcoming town hall meeting for school parents, as well as a new open house event for prospective students to be held following Catholic Schools week in January.
The next board meeting will be held at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18 in the McDaid Elementary School library.
