Thursday, Nov. 29

• North Platte Public Library - The Life & Times of Charles Dickens. Noon. Brown Bag presentation by Vicky McCarty. No charge. Attendees may bring lunch. Coffee, tea and water provided. Call 535-8036 by Nov. 28 to reserve a seat.

• Sculley's Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) - Live music by Another Lost Year. Alternative Metal/Hard Rock. An acclaimed live rock show. Paisty Jenny and Screaming For Silence open. Starts at 8 p.m. $10 admission. 18 or older only. Also, fundraiser for Salvation Army. Bring a new children's toy (minimum $5 value) or $5 worth of canned goods to enter drawing to win autographed merchandise and other prizes. More donations, more chances to win.

• Cedar Bowl (1100 S. Jeffers) – Cosmic bowling under black lights. 8-11 p.m. $4 per game.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – Live music by Whiskey Bent. 9 p.m. Cover charge.


Saturday, Dec. 1

• Garden Glove Center (1800 E. Twelfth) – Christmas Boutique with live music, fresh trees and wreaths, over 30 vendors. Santa and Mrs. Clause 2-4 p.m. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Bring canned food item to support local food pantries.

• Woodhead House (306 S. Poplar) – Kindred Spirits Boutique with holiday goods for sale. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Wallace Community Hall (105 E. Alice St., Wallace) – Wallace Volunteer Fire & Rescue Auxiliary’s Christmas Bazaar, home based goods for sale. Soup luncheon with homemade pie. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free will donation.

• United Methodist Church (1600 W. E) – 25th annual Craft Fair. Lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Craft show 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Children’s Museum (314 N. Jeffers) – Illusionists, stilt walkers, juggline performances by Bacchanal Promotions. 10 a.m.-noon. Members free, non-members $4.

• A-Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – Barbra Mohrman book signing of Four Blue Stars in the Window, a family’s story of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and the duty of a generation. 1-3 p.m.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. Fourth) – Annual Christmas poetry and dance with live music by the Gary Phipps Show. 7 p.m. $5 cover charge. Bring finger food and a gift for man or woman.

• Cody Park – Santa’s Workshop with hay rides, caroling and entertainment. Begins at 5 p.m. with mayor’s lighting of the North Pole. Lasts until 9 p.m.

• Neville Center (301 E. Fifth) – Heartland Singers presents Hometown Christmas. 3 p.m. Free will donation.


Wednesday, Dec. 5

• Pop Corner (1847 W. A) – Live piano and song by Shermie. 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

• Mid-Plains Community College (South Campus) – Santa’s Workshop with crafts and games available for children of all ages. 6-8 p.m. Admission is a donation of one non-perishable food item for local charity.

• VFW Post 1504 (2100 E. Fourth) – bingo, total of 24 games, starts at 6:45 p.m.

• Sculley’s Shooters (2221 E. Fourth) – adult dance lessons ranging from Country, Latin, Ballroom, and Swing. 7-9 p.m. $3 per person.

• North Platte Senior Center (900 E. Tenth) – the Golden Classics, a four-piece combo, plays a dance. 7-10 p.m. $3.


Thursday, Dec. 6

• Espresso Shoppe (419 N. Dewey) – Downtown cookie and ornament decorating. 3-5 p.m.

• Downtown – Annual festival of lights Christmas Parade. 5-8 p.m.

• Public Library (120 W. Fourth) – Dickens Tea with classic holiday dining - soup, bread, scones, chocolates, dessert and cookies. 5:30 p.m. Tickets $20.

• Around town – First Thursdays shopping and entertainment at select businesses until 8 p.m.


Thurs.-Sun., Dec. 6-9

• First Baptist Church (100 McDonald Rd.) – 19th Annual Robert M. Rouch Memorial Living Christmas Tree performance begins at 7 p.m.


Friday, Dec. 7

• Public Library (120 W. Fourth) – Dickens Tea with classic, formal holiday dining - soup, bread, scones, chocolates, dessert and cookies. Noon; again at 5:30 p.m. Tickets $20.

• Harvest Christian Fellowship (2607 US-30 W.) – Donna’s Community Christmas Dinner. 2-6 p.m. Free holiday meal. Live music all day. Santa at 5 p.m. Everyone invited.

• A to Z Books (507 N. Jeffers) – Open Mic Nite. Established performers and newcomers. 7-10:30 p.m. Free-will donation. Refreshments provided or bring your own.
