After the loss, NPCC's record is now 4-5.

The Lady Knights got off to a good start and took a 9-4 lead when Paige Hasty got putback five minutes into the contest.

NJC then came back and took the lead at 18-17 on a layup by Selbe Lo. Both teams battled for the rest of the half and the Plainswomen had a 30-28 lead after Tiffany Mines got a layup off of a steal with 12 seconds left.

In the second half, Northeastern went on an 8-0 run to take a 48-40 lead after a three-pointer made by Alex Ochoa with a little more than 12 minutes to go in the game.

But Da'Vontaye Merritt, who had a game high 22 points, led NPCC back and she tied the game at 54 with a made free throw with 6:39 left to play.

The Knights took a 57-56 lead when Naudia Crisp made a three but the lead was short lived. Karala Orona scored the next three baskets for the Plainswomen to make it 62-57 with four and a half minutes left.

But NPCC had one more run left. With 2:24 to go, Crisp made a pair of free throws that followed a putback by Merritt to bring the Lady Knights to within 64-63.

A minute later, Courtney Widick made a mid-range jump shot in transition to give the Knights the lead.

NJC committed turnovers on its next two trips up the floor. But with about 20 seconds left, Jordan Dickerson missed both free throws after being fouled and the lead stayed at one point.

Johnson made the game-winning shot on a jumper from 10-feet out. Dickerson brought the ball up and tried to set up an 18-foot jumper for Hasty on the last shot but her pass was tipped and time expired.
