Nearly 300 hunting trophies from the WyoBraska museum in Gering will sell at auction Saturday in Omaha, according to the company Taxidermy-Auctions.

The Gering museum is relocating more than 1,500 trophies and selling a portion of their collection to raise money for a new natural wildlife museum in Scottsbluff, the auction company said.

The auction will be held Dec. 1 at the Millard Social Hall in Omaha.

The former WyoBraska Museum has gathered national and international attention for 30 years, the company said.

The collection is being legally sold after consultation with U.S. Fish and Wildlife to Nebraska sportsman and collectors.

Items on the aution block include elephant tusks, leopards, five Black Rhinos, a White Rhino, a myriad of sheep from around the world and a selection of African game.

Many of the trophies that will be sold must only go to Nebraska residents.

"This is an opportunity for sportsmen and collectors to acquire trophies that may never be available again in our lifetime," organizer Mark Thomas said.

Inspection will be held the day before.

The Millard Social Hall is at 10508 S. 144th St., Omaha, Neb. 68138.
