David J. Hauser, 43, of Overton, is charged with conspiring with others to distribute meth, U.S. Attorney Deb Gilg said Friday. Hauser is officially accused of distributing 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine beginning on or about July 2011, and continuing to on or about July 11, 2012, Gilg said. Hauser faces from 10 years to life imprisonment, a fine up to a $10 million, a 5 year term of supervised release and a $100 special assessment, Gilg said. Hauser is one of 38 defendants indicted on federal charges by a grand jury, Gilg said. Gilg said indictments are charging documents that contain one or more individual counts that are merely accusations, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Hauser has a record of theft and drug crimes, according to the Nebraska Department of Corrections.
