Hershey native Sabrena Swanson has become the first woman in the history of the Pet Smart company to be a general manager at a Pet Smart Distribution Center. Swanson will manage operations at Pet Smart’s DC 10 in Groveport, Ohio, the company recently announced. Sabrena grew up on a farm and cattle ranch in Hershey, the daughter of Mardee and the late Swede Swanson. She graduated from Hershey High School and holds a bachelor of science degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She played softball at UNK and the team won a national championship. After college, Swanson worked for United Parcel Service for 14 years before she joined PetSmart in 2009. She moved to Groveport from Newnan, Ga, where she is currently the assistant general manager at Pet Smart’s DC38. Swanson will relocate to Columbus with her partner Kelly and pets -- Jackson, an 11-year-old Akita and Grace, a one-year-old Mastiff, and Blu, a four-year-old Siamese/Blue Russian, the company said.
