Tomas Hernandez, IV of North Platte was sentenced Tuesday to seven years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine.

U.S. Attorney Deb Gilg said Hernandez, 25, was responsible for the distribution of at least 50 grams (approximately 1¾ ounces) but less than 200 grams (7 ounces) of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.

In April 2011, a confidential informant working with the CODE Task Force purchased small amounts of methamphetamine from Hernandez in North Platte on two occasions, Gilg said.

Information provided to law enforcement indicated that Hernandez was also involved in the distribution of cocaine.

Following the prison term, Hernandez will serve four years on supervised release.

This case was investigated by a task force of cooperating law enforcement agencies throughout a 22-county area in west-central and southwest Nebraska and includes the North Platte Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office, Frontier County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security Investigations.
