Run now, eat later on ThanksgivingTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte Catholic Schools will host a 5-kilometer, 1-mile run on Thanksgiving morning.

Organizers hope it will be the first annual “Turkey Trot” Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 22 at the Cody Park concession stand, with the run beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The trot can either be run as an individual 5K or a Family’s 1-mile fun run. The entry fee for the individual 5K is $20 and includes a tee-shirt, drinks and refreshments. The entry fee for the family 1-mile is $25 per family and also includes one tee-shirt, drinks and refreshments.

Each family receives one race number and runs the race as a team, organizer Wendy Dodson said.

Prizes will be given to the top four finishers for male, female, and family.

Organizers encourage and invite the entire community to enjoy some exercise.

“What better way to begin Thanksgiving Day than with a little fun and exercise,” said cross-country coach Marie Brosius.

Proceeds will benefit the St. Patrick’s High School Activities Association.

Registration forms can be obtained from St. Patrick’s High School or the North Platte Recreation Center.
