Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol talked to more than 80 motorists Saturday during a special patrol before and after the Husker-Penn State football game. Troopers cited two drivers for driving while intoxicated and issued 38 speeding citations and warnings, Collins said. Troopers also issued three citations for driving under suspension, three citations or warnings for seat belt violations and one citation for child restrait violation. Troopers also helped 12 motorists with car trouble, Collins said. The enforcement was designed to help ease traffic congestion and reduce the potential for injury crashes, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said. It was the second in a series of special efforts, with more planned for the remaining Husker home game, on Nov. 17, when NU plays Minnesota. The additional enforcement is paid for thanks in part to a $6,570 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
