Registration is at 8 a.m.

A panel of state senators will speak at 9 a.m., including Sens. Annette Dubas of District 34, LeRoy Louden of District 49 and Ken Schilz of District 47. Others are pending.

The ICON membership will have the chance to visit with senators in a one-to-one situation.

After a dinner at noon, a presentation on drought issues will be made by ICON member Scott Cotton, UNL Extension Educator.

Other presentations are planned in the afternoon, followed by the ICON business meeting, when resolutions will be discussed for the upcoming year.

A social hour will precede a prime rib evening banquet and auction for the Jim Hanna Memorial Scholarship.

The convention fees are $50; the banquet is $25 and the day meeting also gives ICON members a chance to renew ICON membership for $50 and update their brand ads. ICON offers members a $10 discount at the convention if dues are paid at they registration.

Pre-registration for the evening banquet is required. All members are encouraged to participate in the silent auction so ICON can continue to support the Hanna Memorial Scholarship. A bidding auction will also be held to raise money for ICON expenses.

This past year. ICON was deeply involved in writing a bill to support branding as a form of animal identification and disease traceability. It did not reach the Unicameral floor this past session but it did encourage the Agricultural Committee to conduct a study about branding in Knox County – a county which is half in and half out of the branding area.

Rooms can be reserved at the Hideway by calling 308-872-2009.

More convention information and registration forms will be available online at http://www.independentcattlemen.com/ or by contacting Communications Director Linda Wuebben at 402-357-3778 or by email at linbo@gpcom.net.
