North Platte Community College Music Instructor Elizabeth Peters and some of her former voice students recently received vocal honors on both the state and regional levels.

Peters, who is a voice student of Dr. Anne Foradori of the University of Nebraska at Kearney, performed at a state competition hosted by Hastings College in October that included students from colleges throughout Nebraska.

After performing “Bester Jüngling” from the opera Der Schauspieldirektor by W.A. Mozart in the finals, she took third in the advanced level of the competition.

Brooke Ludemann, a former student at North Platte High School and private voice student of Peters, was a finalist in the freshman female division.

Ludemann is currently a music major at Doane College and is a voice student of Hannah Jo Smith at Doane.

At the West Central Regional NATS competition Nov. 2-3 by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Peters and several former students competed against individuals from schools and voice studios in Nebraska, Kansas, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Peters earned an impressive second place in advanced female classical vocals, after performing “La Zingara” by Giuseppe Verdi.

Also, her former student and NPCC graduate Katelynn Moore Titus, currently majoring in music at Wichita State University, was a semi-finalist in the sophomore female category. Titus is currently studying under Dr. Dorothy Crum at WSU.

“I was so honored and proud to see former students of North Platte and NPCC do such an amazing job competing not only at the state level, but also regionally,” said Peters.
